For my senior project, I had the opportunity to collaborate with clients Joe and Kari Nugent on a renovation of their home. Initially focused on their half bath, kitchen, and master suite, the project expanded to include their laundry room and formal dining room. Through thoughtful re-imagining, I was able to create a space that better suited their daily living needs while complementing their neutral style.
Key changes and considerations included:
Relocating the half bath to a more functional area
Creating an open layout for the kitchen to enhance flow
Designing an entertainer-friendly kitchen, as requested by the Nugents
Adding a large island to maximize counter space and storage
Redesigning the family entrance to separate the laundry room, making it more efficient
Transforming the formal dining room into a sitting area and entry space for guests
These are just a few of the thoughtful changes incorporated into the project. Explore the full design to see all the details!
Program Objectives Include:
Through work, an understanding is demonstrated of how furnishings, objects, materials, and finishes work together to support the design intent.
Demonstrate an understanding of how systems thinking informs interior design practice.
Work demonstrates the ability to effectively collaborate with multiple disciplines in developing design solutions.
